Summary

It is an exciting time for HM Land Registry as we continue on a major transformation programme. HMLR’s ambition is to become the world’s leading land registry for speed, simplicity and an open approach to data.

We are now looking for an experienced Product Manager to join our Digital, Data and Technology team to help us to achieve this.

You will join our award-winning Digital, Data and Technology Directorate which is the in-house IT division at the heart of the move to a digital, data-driven organisation with the ambition to provide our customers with cutting-edge digital services.

HM Land Registry’s existing software systems and services form part of the critical national infrastructure, safeguarding land and property ownership valued at £7 trillion. This enables over £1 trillion worth of personal and commercial lending to be secured against property across England and Wales.

Job description

As a Product Manager you will be responsible for defining the why, when, and what of the product that the development team builds. You will have in depth knowledge of product management techniques and understand the whole product life cycle stages, key events and how the lifecycle helps maximise the benefits the product creates across its entire life.

You will be leading one or more delivery teams to deliver new products or iterations to existing products to meet user needs, representing users throughout the delivery process and using feedback to inform continuous improvement of HM Land Registry’s existing and future services.

Creating the vision for your product, you will engage with teams and stakeholders in the development over time and actively share your knowledge and experience of development methodology, leadership and delivery to develop others and work within the product community of practice.

At this level, because you will have practitioner product management understanding, you will report to a more senior product manager and will have some line management responsibilities.

Responsibilities
To meet the requirements of this role, you will have demonstrable experience of Product Management, Agile and Lean Practices along with a good understanding of product management principles and developing a road map.

You have proven experience of making user driven changes to an existing product or service, challenging the as-is and influencing senior colleagues, changing practice to enable delivery; along with the ability to identify a problem, analyse data and information to find a way forward.

We have 14 office locations across England and Wales. You will need to be based within a commutable distance from one of them, which will be assigned contractually as your ‘home’ office.

The role will require regular travel, and this should be taken into account when applying. The successful applicant will be working with a team usually based within in Plymouth.

The Digital, Data and Technology Directorate is the in-house IT division for HMLR. We are currently recruiting several roles to ensure the directorate’s teams contain the right blend of skills, experience and knowledge to take our major transformation programme forward. These teams are at the heart of the move to a digital, data-driven organisation with the ambition to provide our customers with cutting-edge digital services.
