Sheffield based SCX Special Products is a highly profitable business which started life over 30 years ago. It designs, builds, commissions and maintains bespoke engineering solutions to complex lifting and moving challenges for structures, materials and people for its customers in the nuclear energy, defence, aviation and kinetic architecture sectors.
Its highly-talented team of 60 has a global reputation having delivered numerous iconic projects in nuclear energy at Sellafield and Dounreay, retractable roofs for Wimbledon’s Centre Court and No. 1 Court, the world’s first dividing and retractable pitch at Tottenham Hotspur FC, on-board systems for the HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales aircraft carriers, advanced production line handling and test systems for Rolls Royce engines and F-35 Lightning jets, and many others.
With the backing of its investors Elysian Capital the business is implementing a strategy which will see significant domestic and international growth.
As a part of this growth plan SCX Special projects is currently looking for ten new members of its engineering, operations and HR teams. The teams will continue to grow over the next few years.
The Project Manager provides leadership, direction and management of all assigned projects to ensure achievement of project success factors, which are:
Projects completed on time
To the agreed specification
To the highest levels of quality commensurate with industry and commercial proposal
Achievement of, and ideally improvement of handed over budget performance in accordance with all SCX health and safety requirements and HSE legislation whilst meeting or exceeding our customers’ expectations
Demonstrable track record of successfully delivering engineering projects meeting equivalent project success factors.
Demonstrable experience delivering projects in either Nuclear / Oil & Gas / Manufacturing / Process / Power Generation industries.
A relevant degree (or equivalent) in an Engineering discipline or proven and significant experience of working within an engineering company
Demonstrable understanding of relevant engineering standards, Health & Safety, CDM & CE Regulations
Demonstrable Experience of working with differing levels of responsibility
Awareness of NEC & JCT commercial contracts administration.
Willing to undergo security clearance to a minimum of SC.
Experience of working within the Mechanical Handling sector including overhead cranes, materials handling, moving structures.
Experience of working within the Nuclear Decommission or MOD sectors
Experience of running FAT & SAT (Factory and Site acceptance tests)
A relevant Health & Safety qualification such as NEBOSH, SMSTS, Safety Passport, CSCS.
