El Perro Negro is looking for an experienced Senior Chef to join the team at their new location in Edinburgh. We are known as an award winning burger joint, winning the UK’s Best Burger both 2019 and 2021.
We are a growing brand – we’ve twice won the top award at the UK Burger awards and are the current holders of the title for UK’s best burger – that is the genuine article for burger enthusiasts and those in the know. We have a strong social media profile and growing brand awareness. This is our first Edinburgh venture and we have further plans for expansion next year, so it’s an exciting time to be coming on board with us with the prospect of further opportunities for long term loyal staff.
To join the team, you’ll need to be confident in managing all aspects of the kitchen operation; not just cooking and mise en place, but stock ordering, control and rotation; staff management; hygiene and cleanliness; EHO food safety standards (level 3 certificate). You’ll have to be able to demonstrate having worked in a busy environment and a capacity for working to high standards, consistently and under pressure. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail are essential requirements.
About the Role:
We’re different from a normal restaurant set up in that there’s no front of house operation to manage by the operator. This branch of El Perro Negro operates as a concession at Bonnie & Wild, the indoor food court at the new St James Quarter in the centre of Edinburgh. Consequently you’ll need to have good communication and interpersonal skills as you’ll be dealing directly with customers and representing El Perro Negro in a very public setting.
This is a full time role and you will need to be available to work in the region of 48 hours per week. Annual salary will be circa £30-33k, depending on experience. There are some discounted benefits to employees of Bonnie & Wild, such as 40% on food purchases at all concessions and 50% off membership at Nuffield Health gym which is next to the centre. Other stores offer various discounts throughout the St James Quarter.
