The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) invests in world-class bioscience
research and training on behalf of the UK public. We are the UK’s largest public funder of research of the
non-medical biosciences, and our aim is to further scientific knowledge, to promote economic growth,
wealth, and job creation and to improve quality of life in the UK and beyond.

This role is an excellent opportunity for someone with an interest in research and innovation, excellent
analytical skills and the drive and determination to apply these skills to enable new insights. You will play
a key role in producing analyses, working with a range of data sources, looking for trends and patterns in
these data and providing a robust evidence base to inform UKRI-BBSRC. With a diverse and varied
workload, this role reports to the Associate Director, Evidence and Evaluation, within the Policy, Strategy
and Evidence Domain.

A bioscience background is essential, along with excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
With analysis also core to this role, you will be highly numerate and IT literate with excellent analytical
and data visualisation skills, with the ability to analyse complex raw data and derive meaningful
information accurately and responsibly. You will be well organised and adaptable to change, with the
ability to work flexibly across a range of activities and competing demands. Excellent team working and
interpersonal skills are essential, together with effective communication skills.

Specific responsibilities of this role include:
* responding to requests for information on BBSRC research investments, including Parliamentary
questions, Ministerial briefing, and Freedom of Information requests
* carrying out strategic analyses of the BBSRC research portfolio
* leading and supporting the development of various standard reports and dashboards
* leading the exploration of emerging data analytics tools and approaches
* enabling large and complex data sets to be presented in a simple and intuitive format for users.

The post may require some travel and/or work outside normal working hours on occasion (subject to
COVID-19 restrictions).
